How to make your own bookmark!
13 MayHave you ever wanted a book mark, but they're too expensive at your local book store? Well, now you can make your own, and they're pretty cheap too!I've come up with many designs, but this one is the easiest one so far that looks elegant and totally awesome at the same time!
Supplies
scissors
embroidery thread (3 different colors)
loom
I made my loom out of a foot long two by four and drilled a nail a little ways in. But I've used my big toe as a loom before. :)
1. Select three colors of your favorite embroidery thread and cut them about two feet long. Fold them ever in half, making them one foot long and tie a tight night at the top, leaving a loop.
2. Place the loop on the loom. Divide each color into three parts. you should have two of each color.
3. Braid about an inch down and stop.
4. Now here's the tricky part. Take two strands of the same color and place them underneath the other thread. Make a loop with your thumb and index finger pull your selected color over the other thread and through the loop. Pull loosly, but make sure that your braid doesn't get bunched up.
5. Just so you know, pull a little tighter than I did on the picture. Do that five times, and then braid again. Repeat steps three and four three times. Braid one more time and tie a knot.
6. Trim the edges. Take your book mark off the loom and snip the top, and you have your own book mark!
Here's a picture of my loom. It's very easy to make, and you can decorate it how ever you want! I typed my one of my favorite Psalms on the computer, Psalm 103, and printed it onto parchment paper from the store, of course, and them tape it to the wood. I'm not quite done with it, but it works for now!
I hope you enjoyed this post! I'm a little knew at all the computer stuff; I'm usually making book marks, sewing, writing my book or helping my family. Thanks for reading!
Have you made any book marks? Please comment and tell us about it!
