The silliness of Evolutionary ideas part one
25 DecemberI'm sure that many of you reading this post have heard of Evolution. The process that changes one animal to another over millions of years.
People during the eighteen hundreds began having ideas about how one animal might one day be able to change into another animal. People already had books published on how the earth was probably millions of years old instead of only thousands. During this time, there was a man named Charles Darwin.
Charles Darwin(Feb. 12, 1809-April 19, 1882) lived in England at the time with his large family. When he was eight years old, Darwin's mother died, and unable to care properly for the children, his father sent him to boarding school. He decided that Darwin should be brought up to work in the church, but Darwin had a hard time understanding why a loving God would take his mother away and so many others. So he decided that he would be a naturalist and geologist.
During the year 1831, Darwin set sail on a ship known as the Beagle with his friend Captain Robert FitzRoy. They traveled first to South America, where Darwin began studying the plants and animals there. He noticed this huge valley with only a small river trickling through it. He began to form the idea that it could take long periods of time for that small river to carve out this great canyon.
After that they went on to the Galapagos Islands where Darwin noticed something very strange about the finches there, or, what he thought was very strange. Some of the finches had longer beaks and others shorter ones. He began to suspect that these finches were changing slowly.
Of course, we know that some might have longer beaks than others because of their genetic codes or adaptation and variation, but Darwin didn't get the picture. Thus, the idea that the earth is millions of years old and it could take millions of years for one animal to change into another animal.
I'll continue on in Part two of 'The silliness of Evolutionary ideas'. Thanks for reading today and please comment!
