Bible memory... Day two!

02 June

You have more than half of Psalm one memorized! (Or you should) :) I used to have a hard time memorizing scripture, but during the last four in a half years I have discovered that it's a joy to have bible verses memorized. When we talk to people about God, we usually read or quote scripture to encourage them. But wouldn't it be awesome if all we had to do was say a bible verse? We wouldn't have to rummage around in our hand bags or backpacks for your little backpack bible. Not that reading from the bible is bad, but God wants us to meditate day and night on his word, memorizing it so that we can help others as well as grow in our faith.

Today, we're going to memorize the second half of Psalm one. Here it is;

The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore, the wicked shall not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked shall surely perish.

Yes, this second passage is shorter than the first, and that's why I typed the last few verses separate from the rest of the chapter. What a might passage! The wind drives the wicked away! He will punish the wicked! He sees the way of the righteous, and sinners will never stand with the righteous. Doesn't that just blow your mind away? Many times, if we're tired of God waiting to act, we'll punish the people who are doing wrong in our own way.

But God doesn't want us to do that. He wants us to stand strong, even during hard times, because in the end, he will punish those who sinned. Yahweh is a merciful God, slow to anger and abounding in love to thousands of generations. But he is also just. But take heart. Yahweh sees the righteous, and he's going to reward us, even if it takes years and years.

  3. Omaine!!!!! Thank you sooo much! You know, what you said is very true. Yahweh loves it when we memorize scripture. Another thing truly incredible about memorizing scripture is, when you read a scripture, yes, it is powerful. They all are. But if you read it, or say it over and over again multiple times, almost every single time without fail, you will discover something new and amazing. Something to help with memorization. Put a tune to it. This is also an incredible motivator. That's how I've (and you too, E, J, C, E, N, and EM!) memorized most of the scriptures I know.
    Jeremiah 33:3 is one of my favorite verses. You all know this one! "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Look it up often!

    Shalom,
    Sophia
