Meteor shower/upcoming events
11 AugustMeteor showers are fun to watch. I've never actually seen one myself, only heard about them and how cool they are. There is supposed to be one tonight, and I intend to watch it with my parents permission! We live out in the middle of no where and I can see everything from my balcony. It will be a fun thing for families to do tonight. If I get any pictures I'll post them whenever I do my next post, and if not, I guess there won't be any pictures!
Upcoming events
I can't believe that there are only two weeks left in August! The temperatures have been dropping to only 79 or 80 degrees in the day time, and it's getting chilly at night. The new moon was on the eighth according to Monte Judah's calander lionlamb.net but it was too cloudy for my family to see anything. Last weeks Torah portion was very interesting, and at fellowship yesterday, we had an awesome Midrash with the other families on many different topics that were in the reading. Here are the readings for this week:
Torah: Ki Tetse
Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19
Haftarah: Isaiah 54:1-10
Brit Chadashah: Matthew 5:27-30; 1 Cor. 5:1-5
Proverbs 11-17
In September we have a few feast days to celebrate. First, on Friday the 6th, we have Erev Yom Teruah, or Feast of Trumpets. Yom Teruah is the day that Yeshua will come back when it's time. We gather around with our shofars and look for the New Moon, and when we see it, we blow the shofars and it's really fun. :) Some people call it Rosh Hashanah, but Rosh Hashanah is not a biblical holiday, and it is not the head of the year. The head of the year is at Pesach, or Passover.
Next, on Sunday the 15th, we have Erev Yom Kippur, where we spend a day fasting and praying. We dress in white because of a verse in Isaiah that says, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be washed whiter than snow."
Then, on Friday the 20th, we have the Erev Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles evening. We camp in tents and booths for seven days to remember when the Israelites were in the desert.
And then on Sunday the 29th, we have Simchat Torah.
I think that September has the most feast days in it. We have Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah, all in one month. Joshua's birthday is also on the 25th, coming up fast!
And there is something else exciting coming up a few months from now. We're waiting for baby #7 to come at around the end of December! Please be praying that the pregnancy and the birth go smoothly and that the baby will be healthy and strong!
Thanks for reading today! Please comment!
