Prayer

27 November

How many of you pray? When do you pray? Do you pray in the morning or at night? Are you praying through out your day? I personally pray at night in my bed and though out my day for various things such as protection or help not to get angry at something or just talking to God in general. I mentioned prayer in my post 'Getting rid of the Anger in your life through prayer.' It's not hard to pray! Imagine you're talking to your father or a friend. Just talk! No prayer is too little or too small. The main thing I'm going to look at in this Psalm is, can you guess? Prayer.
Acts 2:42
Mark 11:24
Philippians 4:6
1 Thess. 5:16-18
These are only a few of the many bible verses where it talks about prayer. Get your bible out and look these verses up. I went hunting on a long search for meanings of prayer in Hebrew, how many times pray is mentioned in the bible, and so on. Guess what? There wasn't hardly anything on prayer! Most of the articles that were written were by strange websites and nothing really answered my questions. But I finally stumbled upon a chart listing three versions of the bible and how many times they think the word pray is mentioned. Two of the versions were versions that my family doesn't use, but the third was the NIV. Not that that's a great version, but it'll have to do. They think that the word pray is only mentioned about 121 times in the entire NIV bible. And the word prayer is about 150 times.
To tell you the truth, I was not expecting this number. Considering the amount of times King David used the word prayer or pray in Psalms, I was expecting a much larger and staggering number. Not  about 271 times all together.

Are you praying with out ceasing through out your day? Are you praying in the morning like Psalm   five says, having complete faith (meaning, no fear at all) in Yahweh? Are you thanking him for his protection and love and mercy? I'm going to work on praying and reading my bible in the morning. Will you do the same?

Give ear to my words, O Yahweh, consider my sighing.
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
In the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I lay your requests before and wait in expectation.
You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men Yahweh abhors.
But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence I will bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O Yahweh, in your righteousness  because of my enemies--make straight the way before me.
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
Declare them guilty, O Elohim! Let their intrigues be their down fall. Banish them for their many sins, for their have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For surely, O Yahweh, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Shalom,
Emma
