New blog!
24 FebruaryThis woman has an amazing story! Sarah at journeyofsarah.com is a Christian mother of two, Milo and Ellis. I would tell you their whole story here but Sarah tells it better, so I'll let you check it out!
Sarah's story is tragic, in some ways, but it's also filled with love and miracles. Throughout the hard trials of her husband dying of cancer and her sweet baby girl almost dying, she never gave up. I'm sure there were sometimes when despair seemed to engulf her, but she always came out strong in the end. Her story makes me think of James:
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trails, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-3
What? Be joyful when there are trials? To our greek minds this seems very odd, indeed! It is human nature to run from problems, trials, testing, whatever cause discomfort to us. Yet James is saying here that we ought to be joyful when we face trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
When I was younger I was obsessed with Laura Ingalls' Little House on the Prairie series. In the books, Caroline (the mother) often said, "There is no great loss with out some gain."
I've thought often about this saying whenever bad things happen. I've tried to find the gain. Sometimes it has seemed in possible. When a loved one goes to be with Yeshua, it is very difficult and painful. But, the dare I say gain, is your loved one no longer has to face the world. They don't have any worries, or fear, or pain anymore. And you come out stronger in the end, with endurance, perseverance.
I hope this was encouraging to you somehow. It was encouraging to me, and I really think that all of you should head over to Journey of Sarah and read her testimony! It's really amazing.
Love,
Emma Grace

So true! Where is the verse where it says 'in everything give thanks'? I think that that one is a really good one, too, that pertains with what you wrote.
ReplyDeleteThe verse is 1 Thess. 5:18. I agree; it does pertain to this! That's another thing I've really been thinking about... Is giving thanks during the hard times. Thanks for bringing that up!
